Intro
Any way you call it, Microsoft's
Word is huge, both in terms of the income it generates, and prestige
for the company that makes it. As such it should come as no surprise
that the newest version Word XP or 2002 depending on how you buy it,
is the best ever yet. This guide, all 1136 pages of it plus its
companion cd, offer the intermediate to advanced user all the
information they need to get the best out of this unsurpassed word
processor software.
Highs
The sections covered are, introducing
Word 2002 .... fast and functional, manipulating .... text with authority,
adding value with graphics and objects. Clarifying concepts with tables,
charts and diagrams. Designing pages .... for maximum visual impact.
Publishing long documents. Taking advantage of web and networking features.
Collaborating on team projects. Mastering advanced data functions and
optimizing productivity. Each of these sections is further split up into
several chapters.
Lows
As I have now come to expect with computer
guides published by Microsoft press, no complaints at all.
Conclusion
Like most of the users of Word, I have used
the previous versions and the need for a guide may at first not seem
necessary. However the old rule of thumb still seems to ring true, that is
80% of users still only use 20% of its features. I would add that most of
these 80% are happy with word, but why would you buy a car only to drive it
on a Sunday and never more than 25mph. This guide will allow you to use word
up to its full potential and as such I thoroughly recommend it. |
