| Microsoft Close Combat (CC1) + Microsoft Vista Ultimate. |
| Would the old game work with the latest operating system? |
| The only way to find out was to try and install Microsoft Close Combat (CC1) on my Vista Ultimate computer. |
So I insert CD and as expected got the "not intended to be used with your version of Windows. |
| So typed the following in to the run window. "D:\SETUP\ACMSETUP.EXE /Z cchook.dll /T cc.stf /S D:" The install then worked. |
| Its been some time since I have seen this screen! |
| Installed to default settings. |
| First error message during install. |
| Second error message during install. |
| Yet still got "Set-up was completed successfully" |
| As you can see the files on the CC1 CD are dated 01/06/1996 |
| Set Vista compatibility to Windows 95. |
| Got this error. So I manually installed Indeo 4.1 from the CC1 CD. Yet this error message persisted if using Windows 95 compatibility. |
| So set compatibility mode to Windows NT service pack 5, it worked. |
| CC1 now fired up. |
| Presented with CC1 run optimally in 256 colours. Desktop was set to 32bit 1280 X 960 |
| CC1 was using just 11.6MB of memory, yet the total being used was over 600MB! Vista alone needs 500MB just to run! |
