MGI has released its latest version of its much respected PhotoSuite 4 image software package. This product builds upon the previous versions with significant enhancements  and improvements and finally offers serious competition to other more costly imaging software packaging.

It is ideal both for the beginner and experienced user alike. This software is all about the digital image and what you can do with these images once they are in your computer.

Highs

Organize:  This is a must have component of PhotoSuite IIII, its ability to create albums and organize the images within each album cannot be empathized sufficiently. By the time you have some 4000 images in your collection as I have, you will need this ability and probably would find it indispensable. For me this ability is worth the price alone.

Prepare: Simply put this is PhotoSuite IIII image editing section, which has over 30 special effects and a large array of editing tools that includes unlimited undo. Two new features are PhotoTapestry™ and Stitching.

Compose: This is PhotoSuite 4 print/publishing section allowing you to very easily create and personalize greeting cards, calendars, invitations and much more. With over 1,500 templates, 400 props and dozens of fonts and special business project templates. The second CD is jammed packed full of free content.  All this should allow you to create what you need when you need it at a minimal cost both in cash and time.

Share: PhotoSuite 4 will allow you to share your images with friends and family via the internet. Create your own photo web site and display your images in albums and slide shows. The slide show component will be of interest to all those that have a selection of images they wish to show to a group of people. I am thinking here of estate agents, place a pc monitor in your window and the screen can show images of all your properties one after another. The length of time each image is shown is fully customable.

Lows

The only problem during testing was the apparent slow speed of the program. It seemed to need far to long to complete any task it was asked to do. The test Pc was running Windows Me and is powered by an Intel Celeron 533MHz with 128Mb of ram/16Mb Video Card.

Conclusion

All in all I was very impressed by PhotoSuite 4, it installed with ease and was easy to work with, at no time did the software crash and being very intuitive I found I did not have to constantly refer to the well written manual. The best low cost imaging software on the market today.
