During our time in the press waiting room we had a chat
with some of the guys. Eventually we were all ushered upstairs and finally
the show got underway. Various heads of major companies then each gave a
short speech, they all to a man stressed the point that Windows XP
was not just good for Microsoft and their own companies but the
entire computer industry at large and the consumer. Then came a question
and answer session, this reminded me of the format of the University
challenge TV shows, with each company spokesperson seating behind a logo
of their company. Once over we returned to the press room for more
refreshments, many of us had to refuse the alcohol drinks as we would soon
be driving. We met and introduced ourselves to the many public relation
people in the room and to one or two of the Microsoft team, many of whom
we had only ever know by way of e-mails and the phone. At the end we
collected our complementary press gifts, which not unexpectedly
included a copy of Windows XP.
Finally we would like to say thank you to
Steve Ballmer and the entire Microsoft team for a grand day out and to
wish Microsoft and Windows XP every possible success in the future.
